Space Sunflowers To Help Us Find Earth 2.0

Take a look at the video by NASA. It shows how we may find exoplanets (planets orbiting around distant stars) in the future using Sunflower shaped shades. These impressive sunshades will block the light from the distant star so that the exoplanets can be seen. The aim would be to launch the starshade with a space telescope. It would then break away and deploy itself. It is hoped that this technology will help us to be able to see exoplanets that are the same size and distance from the parent star as we are from our Sun. It may then be possible to examine the atmosphere around the planet to see if it could harbour life.
