Brown dwarfs are stars too small to be able to maintain fusion but are too large to be considered planets. Recently, it has been discovered that even brown dwarves have thin debris disks probably capable of producing rocky planets. With this finding the number of stars with potentially habitable planets has just increased by a massive factor as these low mass stars are the most abundant of star types.
